Ingredients

  • 1 14-oz package little smokies
  • 1 cup apple jelly
  • 3 Tbsp dijon mustard

Equipment

  • Dutch Oven
  • 6-qt Slow Cooker

Method

  1. Start by gathering all your ingredients: the package of little smokies, apple jelly, and dijon mustard. It’s great to have everything ready to go!
  2. In a large saucepan, combine the entire jar of apple jelly and dijon mustard. Stir the mixture gently over medium heat until the apple jelly has melted and the two ingredients are well-mixed. This should take about 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Next, add the package of little smokies to the saucepan. Stir well to coat each sausage with the melted apple jelly and mustard mixture. The sausages should be warmed through, which will take about 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. Keep an eye on them as they cook. You want to make sure they are heated all the way through without burning the sauce. You’ll know they’re ready when they’re steaming and slightly bubbling.
  5. If you prefer, you can also use a slow cooker. Simply add the little smokies to the slow cooker and pour the melted mixture over them. Set the cooker on low and let it warm for about an hour.
  6. Once the little smokies are heated and well-coated, they’re ready to serve! Use toothpicks for easy grabbing, and watch them disappear as guests indulge in these tasty bites.
  7. Enjoy your Apple Jelly Little Smokies as an appetizer, or make it a part of your main meal. They’re versatile enough to shine at any occasion!
  8. Remember, if there are any leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They’re just as delicious reheated!

Notes

  • Tip 1: You can make these on the stovetop or in the slow cooker.
  • Tip 2: I usually double the recipe and there are never any leftovers!
  • Tip 3: Feel free to substitute yellow mustard for the dijon mustard.
