- Start by preheating your oven to 350ºF. Make sure the temperature is just right to achieve that perfect golden brown finish on your cookies.
- Line your cookie sheets with parchment paper. This ensures that the cookies won’t stick and makes cleanup a breeze!
- Next, unwrap theHershey's Kisses and set them aside. You want them ready to go for when your cookies come out of the oven.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together thebutter andsugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. This should take about 2 to 3 minutes. You’ll know it’s ready when it looks pale and has a smooth texture.
- Add in theegg andvanilla, mixing until well blended. You want to make sure everything is incorporated nicely.
- Mix in themilk, followed by the dry ingredients: theflour, baking soda, andsalt. Stir until just combined; don’t overmix to keep the cookies tender.
- If the dough feels sticky, cover it with plastic wrap and chill it in the fridge for about 30 to 60 minutes. This will make it easier to handle.
- Once the dough is ready, shape it into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball in the decorative sugar, ensuring they’re nicely coated.
- Place the sugar-coated balls on the lined cookie sheet, spaced appropriately apart since they will spread as they bake.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the cookies are set and barely browned. You want them to look just a little underbaked for the best texture.
- Once out of the oven, allow the cookies to cool for about 2 to 3 minutes. Then, gently press aHershey's Kiss into the center of each cookie. This is the moment when the magic happens!
- Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely. This helps them maintain their shape and texture.
