Ingredients

  • 12 ounces Sliced Smoked Sausage
  • ¾ pound Baby Red Potatoes
  • ¾ pound Green Beans
  • 2 cups Bell Peppers
  • 2 cups Diced Onion
  • 2 teaspoons Dried Oregano
  • 2 teaspoons Dried Parsley Flakes
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Ground Black Pepper
  • 6 tablespoons Cubed Unsalted Butter
  • 2 cups Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking Sheet
  • Cutting Board
  • Chef's Knife
  • Mixing Bowl

Method

  1. Start by preheating the grill to high heat or the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. This ensures that your packets start cooking evenly and efficiently.
  2. Next, lay out 6 large sheets of aluminum foil. This is where your culinary creations will come to life! Lightly spray them with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  3. In a large bowl, toss together Sliced Smoked Sausage, Baby Red Potatoes, Green Beans, Bell Peppers, and Diced Onion. Adding the vegetables to the sausage creates a well-rounded flavor.
  4. Season the mixture with Dried Oregano, Dried Parsley Flakes, Garlic Powder, Paprika, Salt, and Ground Black Pepper to taste. Mix everything thoroughly until the ingredients are evenly coated with the spices.
  5. Divide the sausage and vegetable mixture evenly onto the centers of the prepared sheets of foil. This ensures each packet is packed with the same hearty goodness.
  6. Add 1 tablespoon of the 6 tablespoons cubed unsalted butter to the top of each packet. The butter will melt as it cooks, enriching the flavors and moisture.
  7. Fold the foil over the top of the sausage and vegetables, completely sealing the sides of each packet. This keeps all the flavors locked in as they cook.
  8. Place the foil packets directly on the grill and cook for 25 to 30 minutes or bake in the oven for 35 to 40 minutes. You want the vegetables to be crisp-tender and the sausage heated through.
  9. Once done, carefully remove the packets from the heat. Be cautious when opening as steam will escape. Sprinkle Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese evenly over each packet and serve immediately. The melted cheese is the crowning glory of this dish!

Notes

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. You can also freeze uncooked packets to enjoy later; just thaw before cooking. Don't hesitate to experiment with different vegetables for a fresh twist on this dish. If you're feeling adventurous, try adding fresh herbs like thyme. These foil packets are perfect for potlucks and make for an excellent outdoor cooking option!
