Ingredients

  • 16 ounces Cream cheese room temperature
  • 2 cups Chopped cooked chicken
  • 1 cup Cayenne pepper sauce like Frank’s RedHot
  • 1 cup Sour cream
  • 1 ¼ cups Shredded Mexican cheese blend or cheddar cheese
  • ¾ cup Chopped scallions divided
  • 1 packet Ranch dip mix
  • ¼ cup Crumble blue cheese optional

Equipment

  • Wooden Spoon
  • Chef's Knife
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Oven
  • Blender

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. It’s essential to have the oven hot before you bake the dip, ensuring even cooking. Set out an 8 x 8-inch or 9 x 9-inch square dish or a 9-inch round baking dish; any of these works perfectly.
  2. Next, grab a mixing bowl. You’ll be combining the softened cream cheese, cayenne pepper sauce, sour cream, and the ranch dip mix. Using a hand mixer or a sturdy spatula, blend these ingredients until they're mostly smooth.
  3. Now, it’s time to add in the chopped chicken, 1 cup of shredded cheese, and ½ cup of chopped scallions. Give the mixture a good stir, making sure that everything is evenly combined.
  4. Once mixed, scoop the creamy mixture into your prepared baking dish. Use a spatula to smooth it into an even layer, ensuring that it bakes evenly.
  5. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. You’re looking for the edges to be golden and bubbly, which means it’s ready to come out.
  6. As the dip bakes, prepare for the finishing touch. Once you pull it out of the oven, sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup of shredded cheese and the remaining chopped scallions over the top. If you’re feeling adventurous, sprinkle some crumbled blue cheese for added flavor.
  7. Allow the dip to cool slightly before serving. You can serve it warm with tortilla chips, pita chips, crostini, or even fresh veggies. This dip stays deliciously saucy, making it perfect for any dippers!
  8. Enjoy the compliments from your friends! This Chicken Wing Dip is bound to be the hit of the party.

Notes

Once cooled, transfer the dip to an airtight container and store it in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days. Ensure it’s sealed well to maintain freshness.
I don’t recommend freezing Chicken Wing Dip as the cream cheese base doesn’t thaw and reheat well, affecting texture and flavor.
You can reheat leftovers in the microwave. If using the oven, transfer to an oven-safe dish and bake at 350°F for about 10 to 15 minutes until heated through.
