Ingredients

  • 3.5 cups Cool Ranch Doritos
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 0.5 cups sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.33 cups freshly shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Equipment

  • Rolling Pin
  • 9×13-inch baking dish

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This step is crucial as it ensures even cooking and a perfectly crispy coating for your chicken.
  2. Grab a ziplock bag and place the Doritos inside. Seal it tightly and crush the chips into fine crumbs using a rolling pin. The finer the crumbs, the better they’ll stick to the chicken!
  3. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, minced garlic, ground black pepper, and Parmesan cheese. Stir well to create a smooth, creamy mixture that will coat the chicken.
  4. Next, set up your dredging station. Place the bowl of crushed Doritos next to the bowl of the mayo mixture. This setup will make it easy to coat the chicken.
  5. Take a paper towel and gently dab the chicken breasts to remove any excess moisture. This step is important to ensure that the coating sticks well.
  6. Season both sides of the chicken breasts with sea salt. This enhances the flavor and helps the chicken become tender during baking.
  7. Dip each chicken breast into the mayo mixture, making sure to coat all sides evenly. This creamy layer is what allows the Dorito coating to adhere well.
  8. Then, transfer the coated chicken into the bowl of crushed Doritos. Press down gently to ensure the crumbs stick well and cover the chicken completely.
  9. Once coated, place the chicken into an oven-safe baking dish. Spread them out evenly to allow for even cooking.
  10. Bake the chicken uncovered in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes. Keep an eye on it, and the chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) and the coating is golden brown.
  11. Once done, remove the chicken from the oven, let it rest for a few minutes, and serve immediately. Enjoy the crunch and flavor of your Dorito Chicken!

Notes

  • Crushing Technique: Use a rolling pin or a food processor to ensure even crumbs. Larger chunks won't adhere well to the chicken.
  • Moisture Management: Patting the chicken dry is crucial; excess moisture can cause the coating to become soggy.
  • Pressing the Coating: After dredging, gently press the Dorito crumbs onto the chicken for better adhesion.
  • Cooking Method: If you desire extra crispiness, consider placing a wire rack in your baking dish to allow airflow around the chicken.
  • Temperature Check: Always check the chicken’s internal temperature with a meat thermometer to prevent overcooking.
  • Alternative Cooking: For those using an Air Fryer, preheat it to 375°F (190°C) and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, flipping halfway through for even crispiness.
