Method
- Trim off the woody stalks of the asparagus, and thinly slice the asparagus with a diagonal cut into pieces about 1½ inches long.
- Heat the olive oil in a medium-sized pan on medium heat. Add in the asparagus and cook, stirring frequently, for 4-5 minutes, until they are fork-tender.
- Add in the garlic and ginger and cook 1 minute. Then, add in the orange juice and simmer for 1 minute, or until evaporated.
- Remove from heat and stir in the sesame oil and salt.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat gently on the stovetop to maintain texture.
- Freezing: While fresh asparagus doesn’t freeze well, you can prepare a larger batch and freeze the stir fry after cooking. Just make sure to cool it completely before transferring to a freezer-safe container.
- Pairing: This dish pairs excellently with grilled chicken or fish for a complete meal. Consider serving it alongside some fried rice or a fresh salad.
- Herbs: Experiment with fresh herbs like basil or cilantro to freshen up the flavors. They add a delightful aroma when sprinkled on just before serving.
- Nutty Crunch: Add some toasted nuts like almonds or cashews for added texture and a nutty flavor that complements the dish.
