Method
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray 8 regular size muffin cups with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- In a mixing bowl, combine 6 ounces of cream cheese, 1/4 cup of powdered sugar, and almond extract. Using a hand-held electric mixer, blend until smooth and creamy.
- On a lightly floured surface, unroll the crescent dough. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough, making sure to cover it well.
- Then, spread the strawberry preserves over the cream cheese layer, ensuring an even distribution for optimal flavor.
- Starting at one long side, roll the dough into a log. Once it’s rolled, cut it into 8 equal slices, which will be your danishes.
- Place the slices cut side up in the prepared muffin cups. Sprinkle each one generously with sliced almonds for that delightful crunch.
- Bake in your preheated oven for 20 to 22 minutes or until the danishes are golden brown and puffed up. They should look irresistible!
- Allow to cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Use a knife to run around the edges of each danish before carefully removing them from the pan.
- For the glaze, mix the remaining 2 ounces of cream cheese, 1 cup of powdered sugar, and milk using your electric mixer until smooth. Spread a spoonful over each warm danish before serving.
Notes
If you can’t find the crescent dough sheets, use the regular 8-count crescent roll dough and seal the perforations.
