Ingredients

  • 1 package cream cheese softened
  • 1.25 cups powdered sugar divided
  • 0.125 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 can crescent dough sheet refrigerated
  • 0.5 cups strawberry preserves
  • 2 tablespoons sliced almonds
  • 2 teaspoons milk

Equipment

  • Muffin Tin
  • Hand-held electric mixer

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray 8 regular size muffin cups with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine 6 ounces of cream cheese, 1/4 cup of powdered sugar, and almond extract. Using a hand-held electric mixer, blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, unroll the crescent dough. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough, making sure to cover it well.
  4. Then, spread the strawberry preserves over the cream cheese layer, ensuring an even distribution for optimal flavor.
  5. Starting at one long side, roll the dough into a log. Once it’s rolled, cut it into 8 equal slices, which will be your danishes.
  6. Place the slices cut side up in the prepared muffin cups. Sprinkle each one generously with sliced almonds for that delightful crunch.
  7. Bake in your preheated oven for 20 to 22 minutes or until the danishes are golden brown and puffed up. They should look irresistible!
  8. Allow to cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Use a knife to run around the edges of each danish before carefully removing them from the pan.
  9. For the glaze, mix the remaining 2 ounces of cream cheese, 1 cup of powdered sugar, and milk using your electric mixer until smooth. Spread a spoonful over each warm danish before serving.

Notes

If you can’t find the crescent dough sheets, use the regular 8-count crescent roll dough and seal the perforations.
