  • 1 clove Garlic (minced, about 1 teaspoon)
  • 1 inch Fresh ginger (grated, about 1 teaspoon)
  • 3 tablespoons Low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Lime juice
  • 1 pack Wooden skewers

Equipment

  • Grater
  • Whisk

Method

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sugar, and lime juice.
  2. Cut the flank steak into 1/4 inch thick strips that are 5 inches long.
  3. Place the steak strips into the bowl and coat in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate 20 minutes, or up to 8 hours.
  4. Thread steak onto wooden skewers, cover the end of skewers with a piece of foil so they don’t burn and grill or broil for 2 minutes on each side.

Notes

  • Tip 1: If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. The flavors will continue to develop!
  • Tip 2: You can freeze the marinated steak before cooking. Just make sure to seal it well to avoid freezer burn.
  • Tip 3: This satay pairs beautifully with a fresh cucumber salad or jasmine rice.
  • Tip 4: Feel free to add spices or herbs to the marinade, like sesame oil or cilantro, to personalize the taste.
  • Tip 5: These skewers make a great appetizer at gatherings. Just set them out with some dipping sauces.
