Ingredients
  

  • ¾ cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • ¼ cup Molasses
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ¾ teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon Ground Cloves
  • teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 6 tablespoons Cream Cheese
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • ½ teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 ½ cups Powdered Sugar

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375° F.
  2. Line a 13” x 9” baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter with an electric mixer for about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the granulated sugar and continue beating for about 3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  5. Next, add the egg and molasses, mixing on medium-low speed just until combined.
  6. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, and salt.
  7. Gradually add the dry mixture to the sugar-molasses mixture, beating on low until just combined.
  8. Spread the cookie dough evenly in the prepared pan.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes or until the top appears dry.
  10. Once baked, remove the bars from the oven and let them cool completely in the pan.
  11. In a medium mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese and butter for about 30 seconds until smooth.
  12. Adding vanilla and powdered sugar, mix well until fluffy and thick.
  13. Spread the frosting over the cooled bars, and dress them up with festive sprinkles!
