Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a casserole dish, combine the thawed green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, and 1 cup of crispy fried onions. Stir well.
- Bake uncovered for 25 minutes until the mixture is hot and bubbling.
- Remove from oven, stir the casserole, and top with the remaining 1/2 cup of crispy fried onions. Return to oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until onions are golden brown.
Notes
- Using fresh green beans: If you prefer fresh over frozen, feel free to use them! Just cook them slightly before adding to the casserole to ensure they’re tender.
- Make it ahead: This dish can be prepared a day in advance. Just cover it and store it in the fridge. When you’re ready to bake, add a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
- Vegan option: For a plant-based twist, use a vegan cream of mushroom soup and plant-based milk.
- Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
