Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups whole milk powder
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 ¼ cups dutch processed cocoa powder or natural unsweetened
  • 4 ounces Ghirardelli white chocolate bar, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt or ¼ teaspoon salt

Equipment

  • Food Processor
  • Blender
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Chef's Knife
  • Mixing Bowl

Method

  1. Combine all ingredients: Start by adding 2 ½ cups of whole milk powder, 2 cups of powdered sugar, 1 ¼ cups of cocoa powder, 4 ounces of chopped white chocolate, 1 teaspoon of cornstarch, and ¾ teaspoon of kosher salt into a large food processor or blender. Pulse the mixture until everything is well combined and has a uniform texture. It’s important to make sure there are no lumps, as you want a smooth hot chocolate.
  2. Store: Once the mixture is blended, transfer it to a jar or airtight container. It can be stored in a cool, dry place until you’re ready to use it. I like to leave it in my pantry for easy access whenever a hot chocolate craving hits!
  3. Combine with hot water or milk: When you’re ready for a cozy cup, measure out 1/3 cup of the hot chocolate mix and add it to 1 cup of hot water or milk in a mug. Stir thoroughly to ensure it’s well mixed, and you’ll notice how it blends beautifully.
  4. Add toppings: If you’re feeling indulgent, top your hot chocolate with whipped cream or chocolate shavings for an extra treat. You can also sprinkle some cinnamon or marshmallows for a festive touch. Enjoy your homemade creation!

Notes

  • Tip 1: I prefer to use a Ghirardelli white chocolate bar, which makes it super creamy. You could substitute 1 cup white chocolate chips if needed.
  • Tip 2: You could also do a mix of Dutch cocoa and unsweetened. Use whichever brand you prefer.
  • Tip 3: Store in a sealed jar or container for 1 month. You can also freeze up to 3 months.
