Method
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with some butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- In a microwave-safe mixing bowl, melt together butter and 1/2 cup peanut butter on high power. Stir every 30 seconds until completely melted and smooth.
- Remove from the microwave and stir in brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Add in flour and baking powder, mixing just until incorporated. Be careful not to overmix.
- Transfer the bowl to the freezer for about 5 minutes to chill until the dough is no longer warm to the touch.
- Once chilled, fold in semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Spread half of the dough into the prepared baking dish. Dollop the remaining 1/4 cup peanut butter over the top and gently swirl it into the dough with a knife or spatula.
- Add the remaining dough on top, but don’t worry if it doesn't fully cover the peanut butter. It will spread while baking.
- Transfer to the oven and bake for 20 to 22 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle the milk chocolate chunks over the top. Return to the oven for another 1 to 2 minutes to gently melt the chocolate.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and let cool completely before cutting into bars.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days and enjoy!
